• Facilities management and general services includes site operation and maintenance management, floorspace optimisation and development, environmental management and protection, maintenance of industrial systems and staff and visitor services necessary for the proper operation of the company and the well-being of the people who work there.
  
• Assisting management and providing secretarial services involves carrying out the daily administrative tasks inherent in professional life, in a constantly changing business and technological environment. This role is essential to the company, which relies on its teams of assistants to project an image of efficiency and responsiveness with respect to its own staff and external partners.

Staff in the Facilities Management and Personal Assistant function may not play a high-profile role, yet without them the company would not be able to function or achieve its financial objectives.

Individual business units assign facilities management tasks to a specific Thales structure, which sells its technical and administrative skills as a single, optimised services offering on markets both internal and external to the Group. The teams, with the backing of centralised resources, are distributed across the Group's different sites.

Given the various specialist fields concerned, the typical career path usually involves development by lateral mobility between units, leading by successive stages to broader facilities management responsibilities. Personal assistants are attached to each Group structure and organisation. They report to the different levels of operational and functional management. Career development is usually by lateral mobility within the job category or by joining the function to which the assistant post is attached, after the necessary training.
