LEGAL

description

The various specialist areas of the transverse activities that come under the Legal function do not contribute directly to the products, systems and equipment designed and sold by THALES. However, as with the Finance, Human Resources and Communication functions, they provide indirect support that is indispensable to the company's business activity.

The highly specialised legal professions cover fields as varied as business and company law, employee share ownership, tax law, intellectual property, insurance and risk management, real estate, the environment, industrial safety and security affairs. The function's primary role is to ensure that the contracts concluded by the Group are legally sound. In this respect, it audits compliance of operations with national and international legislation and ensures application of the principles of business conduct drawn up by supranational organisations.

The Legal function plays a vital role in protecting the Group's activities and positions with respect to its customers and partners.

The teams within the Legal function report directly to Executive Management. They employ relatively few staff members, but each is highly specialised in a particular field.

The typical career path within this job family usually involves development by lateral mobility between units, leading to posts with greater responsibility.
