Thales has been awarded a contract, after submitting
a successful bid, to provide comprehensive expertise and repair services for a
broad range of French Navy transmission and radio-navigation sub-assemblies.
This successful outcome further strengthens Thales's position as an overall
logistics support provider for the armed forces.
The six-year
contract signed between Thales and the Fleet Support Service applies to around
one hundred French Navy vessels.
Thales’s
ability to offer a particularly innovative and efficient solution for logistics
chain management, and ensure optimum equipment availability made the difference
and allowed to get the contract.
Thales will begin
by using a purpose-built Logistics Information System (LIS) to provide
real-time, remote information management. Stakeholders will be able to monitor
the flow of equipment as it is processed, on a continuous and transparent
basis. At any given time, they will have an accurate insight into the actions
carried out and their progress status.
Thales will then
roll out support teams to provide on-site services in the naval dockyards in
Brest and Toulon, and a local presence.
"We are
very proud to have been chosen by the French Navy for this project," explained Laurent
Maury, Vice President of Thales Communications S.A., Customer Support &
Services activities. "Our logistics chain solution meets two main
criteria, transparency and responsiveness, which are the keys to an efficient
end-to-end support service."
This project further attests
to Thales's ability to play a leading role in logistics support for armies - a
hot topic in recent years.
