Michel Mathieu is the CEO of ThalesRaytheonSystems, the equally owned transatlantic joint venture between Raytheon Company and Thales Group. ThalesRaytheonSystems is a worldwide supplier of airdefense command and control Centers and ground located battlefield radars. The Company's annual revenue is $ 700 million and it employs 1500 people.

He graduated from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications in France and has a doctorate in Computer Science. He joined THOMSON-CSF in 1977 as a development engineer and moved on to programme management, marketing and sales and business development assignments in the field of Air Traffic Management, Battlefield Surveillance and Air Defence.

In 1997, he was appointed CEO of the Joint-Venture Thales and Siemens formed to merge their Air Traffic Management Businesses. Michel Mathieu was instrumental in combining the assets of the two mother companies into one single customer focused organization with operations in six countries. He continued to lead this organization when Thales became sole shareholder of the company in 2000. In 2003, he was appointed Senior Vice-President of Thales Air Defence business group. He became Chief Operating Officer of the Air Systems Division of Thales when it was formed in 2004. His involvement in ThalesRaytheonSystems started end of 2003 when he was appointed Chairman of the Board.
