In this Guide, more than thirty men and women working alongside us at Thales describe life in the Group in their own words. The common denominator in each of these stories - despite all the personal differences and the vast array of working environments - is mobility.
At some point in their professional lives, all these people have opted for mobility, assumed the risks that come with change, seized the opportunities available, and successfully moved ahead. As the Chairman of Thales, what does it mean to be "mobile"? When I look back at my own career since 1983 - one year in the Corporate Planning Department, seven years in Electron Tubes, six years in Underwater Systems, and Chairman of the Group since 1998 - I recognise that I have moved ahead in large part because of a conviction that personal and collective success always go together. Thales is not a holding company, a conglomerate of businesses and employees each pursuing their own interests. On the contrary, Thales sees itself as a Group with its own personality, drawing its strength from the diversity of its team members. Our success depends on the ability of each of us to re-examine what we are doing, anticipate and manage change, work together and bring the Group community the benefit of our own multiple experiences. Mobility is a powerful enabler for collectively pushing back the boundaries of Thales.
