Anne-Laure - Research & Development Product & System

In my "career", I have changed jobs several times. I began as research engineer in system engineering, but by 1997 the satellite link countermeasures business I was working in was in decline. With the agreement of line management, I looked for something different. A former engineer colleague who had moved to customer support thought of me for a job as Integrated Logistics Support manager. Once I got over the surprise, I agreed and with his close support learnt a new job. As an extra I enjoyed the team management programme.

When I emerged from my lab, I discovered another side to the company: customer relations. At that time, my experience as an engineer was a great help for the technical aspects. But then that business declined, so I decided to move back to system engineering. Ringing round my old colleagues, I found out where the openings were. I now have a job that's half-way between the two businesses, but I still bear in mind that the customer comes first.
